Sept 4–7 · Labor Day weekend

Houston
with the cousins

Ranked by how well each one works for everyone at once — ages 7 to 17, one group, nobody chaperoning. Mid-90s and humid all weekend, so outdoor items are evening-only.

Combos that stack

Cistern → Jamail Skatepark

Same block on Sabine St. Light installation and a free skatepark in one stop.

Korean BBQ → karaoke

Hongdae 33 and Happy Zone KTV are in the same building at 9889 Bellaire. One parking lot, four hours, everyone doing something.

Dinner → bats at 7:40 → Meow Wolf

A full evening without repeating a register. Meow Wolf runs till 11 on Friday and Saturday.

Cistern → Flavin → Turrell tunnel

The whole Houston light trail in one afternoon. Mostly free, each stop short enough that nobody burns out.

Museum of Illusions → Waterwall

Five minutes apart, both by the Galleria. The waterwall mist genuinely cools you off.

The Monday problem

Closed Labor Day Monday: the Cistern, Richmond Hall, MFAH, the Beer Can House. Meow Wolf shuts at 6.

Open normal hours: Seismique, Cidercade, Kemah, Main Event, Momentum, Museum of Illusions, Topgolf.

Put the nights with your brother's family on Friday and Saturday. Treat Monday as the light day.
